Dr Zhong Xiwei visits CEU-UCH facilities

Last Friday, the CEU-UCH was delighted to receive a visit from Dr Zhong Xiwei, Director of Educational Affairs at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Spain. Dr Xiwei was accompanied throughout her visit by Iñaki Bilbao, the Vice-Rector for Internationalization, and Alfonso Díaz Segura, Head of International Relations.

During her visit, Dr Zhong visited The HUB 101, where she was able to speak to Alicia Aranda, Director of the Languages Service, and Daniel Garijo, coordinator of the The Hub 101 venue. She was also introduced to our Chinese teacher, Xiao Chun, with whom she was able to exchange pleasantries in her native language.  During the meeting, which took place in a warm and relaxed atmosphere, Daniel, Alicia and Xiao were able to tell Dr Zhong all about the CEU-UCH’s language courses, including the fact that an increasing number of people are interested in learning Chinese at the University – also an outstanding opportunity for students of different nationalities to come together and get to know each other better. Our illustrious visitor was impressed by the activities, workshops and courses run by Xiao, who was grateful for the advice given by Dr Zhong, based on the experience she has gained in the eight years she has been in Spain, occupying various official posts.

Dr Zhong also provided those present with information regarding the grants available to European students who are interested in studying or working in the People’s Republic of China. It’s clear that learning Chinese can be a real plus for all students looking to enhance their CVs. All CEU-UCH undergraduates, postgraduates and alumni have all the resources they need in this respect at their disposal, in the form of the courses and workshops offered by the Languages Service.
