• A place with a lot of distractions is not an ideal study area. The quiet areas in the library or a study hall are good places where you can concentrate. Thankfully, during exam period our library at CEU is open 24 hours; giving you the opportunity to study as long as you need, whenever you need to.

Being in the right mindset is essential for efficient studying. Most of us consider studying a necessary task – not an opportunity to expand our knowledge. However, it is important to think positively when you study and to avoid catastrophic thinking and comparing yourself with your fellow classmates.

Keeping your desk organized is another important factor of successful studying: bring everything you need, but nothing you do not need and try to use your computer or smart phones only when it is really necessary. They are a powerful distraction and taking notes by paper and pen has been proven to help one retain more information plus a better understanding.

• Last but not least: taking breaks and rewards help you reinforce what you are doing. Studying can be exhausting as well as overwhelming. Dividing your study time into segments and taking breaks in between makes studying a lot more efficient and enjoyable.
