International Seminar on the crisis of the Rule of Law in Europe

“The crisis of the Rule of Law in Europe: Diagnosis and prognosis“, is the title of the international seminar to be held on October 2 at the Colomina Palace of the UCH-CEU located at Calle Almudín 1, in the historic center of the city of Valencia.

Organized by the Generalitat Valenciana (GVA), the Ministry of Science and Innovation (MICINN) and the Jean Monnet Chair of the UCH-CEU within the projects on the crisis of the rule of law in the EU led by Prof. Susana Sanz, the event will host fourteen academic experts, all members of the MICINN and GVA research projects.

The seminar will serve as a space for reflection where the team members will be able to exchange the results of their research, while trying to offer a critical assessment and propose solutions in four key areas for the Rule of Law: the judicial system, the anti-corruption framework, media pluralism, and other institutional issues related to the principle of separation of powers.

In addition, five of the experts participating in the event are visiting us from European countries such as Poland, Hungary, Croatia and Italy to offer an insight into the state of the rule of law in their respective countries.

Dr. Sanz is the coordinator of the event where the following panelists are participating: Antonio Bar Cendón (University of Valencia), Leopoldo García Ruiz (UCH-CEU), Clara Portela (University of Valencia), Carlos González Tormo (UCH-CEU), Nuria Hernández García (UCH-CEU), Marta Pérez Gabaldón (UCH-CEU), Roberto Cippitani (Universitá degli Studi di Perugia), Valentina Colcelli (Italian National Research Council),Joaquín Marco Marco (UCH-CEU), Manuel Martínez Sospedra (UCH-CEU), Rosa García Vilardell (UCH-CEU), Fruzsina Gárdos-Orosz (ELTE Budapest), Dario Čepo (University of Zagreb) and Barbara Grabowska-Moroz (Central European University of Budapest).

Ms. Alicia López Castellano, Vice Chancellor of Research at UCH-CEU, will be in charge of opening the event.
