“OVERCOMING THE CRISIS OF DEMOCRATIC VALUES IN THE EUROPEAN UNION”
17-18 October 2024
Palacio de Colomina- CEU Cardenal Herrera University, C/ de l’Almodí 1, Ciutat Vella, 46003 Valencia, Spain.
ATTENTION: The deadline for the submission of papers is closed, however, for those attending as a general public, registration remains open until October 11 (inclusive).
The Jean Monnet Chair of the CEU Cardenal Herrera University is happy to announce the call of our first international congress that is held within the research group “Crisis of the Rule of Law in the EU. Special reference to Poland, Hungary, Croatia, Estonia, Spain and Italy and the incidence of the pandemic”, where sixteen researchers and academics coming from up to six different European countries pool their knowledge and experience to investigate the main attacks on the rule of law in the EU and seek feasible solutions.
The rise of populisms, the attacks to journalists or the (lack of) independence of the judiciary are only some of the visible aspects of a complex process of dismantling the rule of law, a core value of the European Union as established in article 2 of its foundational Treaty.
While many are talking about the enormous problems that are affecting our rule of law not so many are trying to focus on solutions or proposing ways of overcoming the crisis of democratic values in the European Union.
The scientific community needs operators from different areas who are willing to raise their voices to speak out on how to achieve practical and conceivable solutions so as to tackle down the main challenges that are undermining democracies in the EU.
CALL FOR COMMUNICATIONS: INDIVIDUAL PAPER PROPOSALS (DEADLINE CLOSED)
What are we looking for?: Individual paper proposals that relate to the broad topic of the crisis of democratic values in the European Union with preference on those focusing on solutions rather than identifying the problems.
