Vicente is currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration with us and he is one of the eleven CEU students who have carried out an internship in Spanish Embassies and Consulates abroad under the MAEC program. Moreover, Vicente was lucky enough with the destination he was given as he has had the opportunity to work in one of the most beautiful and amazing cities in the world: the always amazing Paris.

Learn more about his experience at 165, boulevard Malesherbes, Paris 8ème: the Spanish Consulate in France.

Even with a grey sky (“la grisaille“), Paris is a wonderful city!

When I started the academic year 2015/16, University CEU Cardenal Herrera offered me the opportunity to study one year abroad at the École Supérieure du Commerce Extérieur (ESCE) in Paris under the Erasmus+ scheme.

While I was studying in France, I got acquainted with the Scholarship Program of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, which offered opportunities to do internships in different Spanish Embassies and Consulates. I got the chance to be one of the students who got an internship and I ended up working four months at the Spanish Consulate in Paris, possibly one of the Consulates whose services are most demanded.

From the very beginning the Consulate tried to make everything easy so I could combine studying and working, thanks to the interest shown by Chancellor Mrs. Mª Concepción Esteban García who happened to be my internship adviser too.

I did my internship at the Civil Registration, where I felt warmly welcomed by my colleagues. I acquired new competences and I always felt supported by the members of the team and the rest of the staff at the Consulate, who were always willing to help the students that were there on a training. They always made an effort to understand our needs and the difficulties that can arise in these tasks, which normally require direct contact with citizens that turn to public institutions looking for a fast and efficient solution to a specific problem.

Paris offers endless possibilities to students!

Lastly, I wish to thank the Consulate staff, my colleagues during the internship and in particular the Deputy Consul Mr. José María Ridao Domínguez, who made it possible for me to live this experience in the upmost rewarding way. I would also like to thank the International Relations Office at University CEU Cardenal Herrera for affording me every facility during my academic stay and the Coordinator for the Business Administration and International Relations degree, Ana Isabel Mateos Ansótegui.

To all of you, thank you for this unforgettable experience!
