This three concepts are key principles is dental care. As a patient I want to feel save when I visit the Clínica Odontológica CEU. When teaching our students I try to provide them with evidence based knowledge and foccus on competencies and skills. For the theoretical content we have introduced the Guideline for Disinfection and Sterilization in Healthcare Facilities published by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the United States in 2008.
Our students have been working on Spaulding classification of patient-care items and equipment, factors affecting the efficacy of disinfection and sterilization , and chemical disinfectants. Today, we went to the Dental Clinic to practice Dental Chair Cleaning and Dental Instruments Cleaning. Several sudents from second, third and fifth grade helped us recording two videos to show the correct way of doing the practice and assisted in training the dentistry students.
During all the morning we have been working hard on cleaning the dental chair and some instruments. Detailed instructions have been forwarded to the students by our “training students”. It has been a great expercience for all of us. Thank you Jemperor, Sarah, Ruke, Terry, Faria, Philip and Laura!
