Team of students on Royal Canin stands

1) Preliminary considerations

On big European congresses, like ECVIM or ESVD, it is interesting to hire a team of 5 students for helping us welcoming customers on our stand. Indeed, it is not worth using our own reps as the audience is international and the commercial exhibition busy only during the short breaks, so our reps waste their time. In addition, several people from RC (R&D) attend the congress and can be on the booth during the break.

2) Organisation

A team of 5 students is better because: 2 will stay on the stand during the lectures while the 3 other students will follow the lectures. All the 5 students are on the stand during the breaks (morning, afternoon and lunch).

3) Activity

Students are responsible for:

  1. making a “one to one” survey among around 100 to 120 participants at the congress with a questionnaire designed by RC and explained to them the evening before the congress. Process the data collected to make easier the analysis of the survey. See example in Annex.
  2. make sure that the displays with the different Veterinary Focus, Focus Special Edition and various documents are never empty. Check that the stand is clean and well organised.
  3. welcome people on the booth and offer them coffee. Help Royal Canin people in preparing coffee for their guests.
  4. take any message for RC people or try to put people in contact

They will receive a short presentation of the products selected to be promoted during the congress in order to be able to make a short presentation.

4) Skills and selection

  • Students interested by the topic of the congress (internal medicine, dermatology).
  • Presenting well, smiling, easy to communicate with.
  • Speaking English
  • In our experience, the year doesn’t matter but it’s good to have one or two students in their last year.
Royal Canin ambassadors are generally perfect, or at least, they can help recruiting the team. In some case (Bled in Slovenia), a professor recruited the team of students.

5) Retribution

  • Students are offered 150 euros each for the 3 day congress
  • If hotel or student room needs to be booked, it will be at RC’s charge
  • They have a full registration to the congress (include proceeding, congress bag, lunch)
  • Invitation to the gala dinner
  • Eventually (if enough space), invitation to the RC dinner…

For the payment, it is important to get an invoice. To avoid 5 invoice, it is good is a student association can invoice RC of the whole amount and pay the students individually.

6) Dress code and behaviour

  • Students wear a Royal Canin tee shirt (one new tee shirt is provided every day at their size)
  • No jean, but dark colour or black trousers and skirt. No baskets but nice shoes.
  • Of course, student should be ready to welcome customer thanks to their posture and attitude.
