A mediados de julio concluy\u00f3 la estancia postdoctoral Fulbright-Schuman de la profesora Susana Sanz Caballero<\/strong>, centrada en la comparaci\u00f3n entre la crisis del Estado de Derecho en la Uni\u00f3n Europea y en los Estados Unidos<\/strong>. Durante los \u00faltimos meses de su estancia, la profesora Sanz particip\u00f3 en el congreso The European Union in an Illiberal World<\/em><\/strong> y en el seminario The European Challenge<\/em><\/strong>, donde abord\u00f3 el fen\u00f3meno de la desinformaci\u00f3n y la manipulaci\u00f3n informativa como amenazas h\u00edbridas<\/strong> en ambas regiones y la relaci\u00f3n entre violaci\u00f3n del Estado de Derecho y violaci\u00f3n de derechos humanos<\/strong>, respectivamente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En julio, mantuvo reuniones con el equipo del Departamento de Ciencias Pol\u00edticas del College of Staten Island<\/a><\/strong> con el objetivo de dar continuidad a las actividades emprendidas con la instituci\u00f3n anfitriona<\/strong> y animar a su personal docente e investigador a solicitar estancias Fulbright en la Universidad CEU Cardenal Herrera<\/strong>. Asimismo, ofreci\u00f3 una sesi\u00f3n de cierre (wrap-up meeting<\/em>)<\/strong> en la que present\u00f3 las conclusiones de su trabajo durante los siete meses de estancia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Como primera iniciativa de colaboraci\u00f3n posterior a la beca, las profesoras Jane Marcus-Delgado<\/a> y Susana Sanz<\/strong> pondr\u00e1n en marcha un COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning)<\/strong> sobre amenazas h\u00edbridas<\/strong>, dirigido a su alumnado de Ciencias Pol\u00edticas en las asignaturas de Pol\u00edtica Internacional<\/strong> y Derecho Internacional P\u00fablico<\/strong>, respectivamente. Esta actividad contar\u00e1 con el apoyo de la experta en intercambios virtuales de CUNY, Valeria Belmonti<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Durante su estancia, la profesora Sanz tambi\u00e9n se desplaz\u00f3 a Washington D.C.<\/strong>, donde se reuni\u00f3 con el titular de la C\u00e1tedra Pr\u00edncipe de Asturias en Georgetown University, Federico Steinberg<\/a><\/strong>, quien le present\u00f3 la actividad investigadora desarrollada en dicha universidad. Ambos exploraron posibles l\u00edneas de colaboraci\u00f3n conjunta<\/strong>, incluyendo proyectos de financiaci\u00f3n europea en \u00e1reas de inter\u00e9s com\u00fan<\/strong>. Susana Sanz tambi\u00e9n visit\u00f3 el Tribunal Supremo<\/strong>, la biblioteca del Congreso<\/strong> y el Capitolio<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En los \u00faltimos d\u00edas de su estancia, Susana Sanz se reuni\u00f3 con otros becarios europeos del programa Fulbright<\/strong> para impulsar la organizaci\u00f3n de una <\/strong>International Week<\/strong> <\/em>y promover estancias Erasmus<\/strong> en las que se invitar\u00e1 a participar a los antiguos fulbrighters<\/strong>, en las que puedan compartirse experiencias investigadoras y conocimientos adquiridos. Tambi\u00e9n discutieron la preparaci\u00f3n de propuestas conjuntas para proyectos de investigaci\u00f3n europeos<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Durante sus \u00faltimos d\u00edas en Nueva York, la profesora Sanz mantuvo encuentros institucionales<\/strong> con personal de la Comisi\u00f3n Fulbright<\/strong> (como el embajador cultural Leslie Graifman<\/strong>), del Institute of International Education<\/em><\/strong> (entre ellos Helen Thurston<\/strong>), con Fausto de Quadros del Tribunal Arbitral del Banco Mundial<\/strong> con sede en Washington, as\u00ed como con representantes del Instituto Cervantes<\/strong>, del Consulado General de Espa\u00f1a<\/strong> y con la embajadora de Chile ante las Naciones Unidas, Paula Narv\u00e1ez<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finalmente, la profesora Sanz public\u00f3 durante su \u00faltimo mes de estancia una contribuci\u00f3n en la obra colectiva<\/strong> editada por Gabriela Oanta<\/strong>, The Presence of International Organizations in the Evolution of the Law of the Sea<\/em>, y un art\u00edculo de opini\u00f3n en el diario <\/strong>Concepci\u00f3n<\/em> de Chile<\/strong> titulado: Espa\u00f1a: la democracia ejemplar, bajo la lupa de la UE<\/em><\/a>. La estancia tambi\u00e9n ha servido para que Susana Sanz finalizara la revisi\u00f3n de los dos vol\u00famenes de la obra Overcoming the crisis of democratic values in the EU<\/em><\/strong>, que ser\u00e1 publicada en breve por la editorial Tirant<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
