Susana Sanz raises: How does radical right\u2011wing populism behave in the European Parliament? How do these parties vote, what initiatives do they promote, and in which activities do they engage within the chamber? In what ways do they defend their interests, and what kind of response do they receive from the other parliamentary groups? Do they act in a uniform and coordinated manner, regardless of their country of origin, or do they instead follow national priorities and directives? Does their behaviour change when the party they belong to is part of the government in their home Member State?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These and other highly topical questions of undeniable scientific relevance form the core of the doctoral dissertation by Gabriela Alexandra Dumitrascu Paraschiv, entitled \u201cLegislative Dynamics of Radical Right\u2011Wing Populism in the European Parliament: The Case of the Identity and Democracy Group (2019\u20132022).\u201d The thesis was supervised by Professors Bel\u00e9n Becerril Atienza and Ainhoa Uribe Ot\u00e1lora at the University San Pablo CEU, the latter being a member of the research teams of projects PID2021\u2011126765NB\u2011I00 and CIAICO\/2024\/191.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dissertation was successfully defended on 26 January 2026 at the University San Pablo CEU. The examination committee was composed of Dr. Guillermo \u00c1ngel P\u00e9rez S\u00e1nchez, Full Professor of Contemporary History at the University of Valladolid; Dr. Ignacio Blanco Alfonso, Full Professor of Journalism at the University San Pablo CEU; Dr. Beatriz P\u00e9rez de las Heras, Full Professor of European Union Law at the University of Deusto; Dr. Manuel S\u00e1nchez de Diego Fern\u00e1ndez de la Riva, Associate Professor of Constitutional Law at the Complutense University of Madrid; and Dr. Susana Sanz\u2011Caballero, Full Professor of Public International Law at the University Cardenal Herrera CEU, member of both research projects and their principal investigator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
