In recent years, we have witnessed a democratic decline that has provoked a crisis of values in the European Union. The truth is that the European project is experiencing an unprecedented crisis. The rise of extremist parties and coalitions, the economic standstill caused by the pandemic, together with the problem that entails the concentration of power in a few hands, are just some of the threats that place the European Union in a dangerous democratic drift.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This blog is developed within the research project Crisis of the Rule of Law in the EU. Special reference to Poland, Hungary, Croatia, Estonia, Spain and Italy and the incidence of the pandemic<\/mark><\/strong>, supported by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (PID2021-126765NB-I00), and whose PIs are Susana Sanz Caballero<\/strong> and Antonio Bar Cend\u00f3n<\/strong>. The one funded by the Generalitat Valenciana (AICO\/2021\/099), is led by UCH professor Susana Sanz.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n In both projects, sixteen researchers from eight universities in more than six different countries are participating and are fully involved in analysing the increasingly questioning of the values on which the EU is based and which for decades we believed to be immovable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe clearest way to show what the rule of law means to us in everyday life is to recall what has happened when there is no rule of law\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n
