The CEU Cardenal Herrera University<\/a> is playing a role in the development of innovative dental biomaterials. Dr. Salvatore Sauro<\/a> in collaboration with other internationally-recognised professors and researchers and other professor of Dentistry are publishing in high impact journals promising results about innovative dental biomaterials.<\/h3>\n

In December 2012, a workshop focusing in different question about dental biomaterials that was co-sponsored by the International Association for Dental Research (IADR), the World Health Organization (WHO)<\/a>, United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP), the FDI World Dental Federation, and King\u2019s College London Dental Institute. Because caries remains ubiquitous<\/strong> throughout the world, with significant disparities across subpopulations<\/strong>, the workshop participants focused on innovation for direct restorative materials for use in a variety of clinical settings<\/strong>. Rich discussion informed by experts from dental and non-dental academic institutions, industry, funding agencies, regulatory agencies, and professional organizations raised many provocative questions, elucidating priorities for research and advocacy (Watson et al., J Dent Res., 2013).<\/p>\n

One of the most important questions emphasised during that meeting was, how much tissue should be removed during caries removal?<\/strong> What kind of innovative material should be developed to have a therapeutic effect on the dental tissues after caries removal?<\/strong> What functional monomers should be used for the development of innovative restorative materials with greater clinical longevity?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The University CEU Cardenal Herrera is playing an important role<\/strong> in the development<\/strong> of such innovative dental biomaterials<\/strong>. Indeed, Dr. Salvatore Sauro<\/strong>, a professor in Dental Biomaterials and Minimally Invasive Dentistry (Bilingual Line) at University CEU Cardenal Herrera<\/strong>, in collaboration with<\/strong> many other internationally-recognised professors and researchers from several important Universities around the world<\/strong> received the acceptance for publication<\/strong> of further two scientific articles<\/strong> in international peer-reviewed dental journals<\/strong>. These two papers are under editing process at the moment and they will be available very soon on the major scientific search engines:<\/p>\n

    Dr. Salvatore Sauro<\/strong> and I (Arlinda Luzi<\/a>)<\/strong>, that I\u00b4m professor in Endodontics and Restorative Dentistry at University CEU Cardenal Herrera, published a further scientific article in Journal of Dentistry which demonstrate<\/strong> how the use of alternative acids<\/strong> in restorative dentistry can improve the resistance to degradation of the resin-dentine interface<\/strong>, thereby the strength and durability of direct composite fillings.<\/strong><\/p>\n
