On 8th May 2013, Rosa Visiedo Claverol, Senior Rector of CEU Cardenal Herrera University, added the university to the Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities, which already holds 400 signatures by institutions throughout the world.
As of 4th June 2013, CEU Cardenal Herrera University is officially a signatory of the Berlin Declaration. We are the 432nd institution to join the movement.
The Berlin Declaration was approved on 22nd October 2003. According to the resulting document, “by open access to (scientific) literature, we mean that it is made freely available to the public via the internet, allowing the users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search and make reference to the complete content of the articles, use them for indexing, as data for software or any other lawful purpose, without any financial, legal or technical barriers.The only restriction on reproduction and distribution, and the only role for copyright,should be to give authors control over the integrity of their work and the right to be duly acknowledged and cited.”
