Susana Sanz, re-elected by the European Commission as an expert on the LifeLong Learning Programme

The organisation brings together European university programmes such as Erasmus, Jean Monnet and Leonardo in the fields of science and education.

Susana Sanz Caballero, senior lecturer of International Public Law at CEU Cardenal Herrera University, has been re-elected by the European Commission as an expert on the LifeLong Learning Programme. It brings students together through some of the most internationally recognised EU-sponsored programmes in science, education and culture, such as the Erasmus, Jean Monnet and Leonardo programmes. For the second year running, Dr Sanz has been appointed by the European Commission as an expert on the organisation, together with eleven other experts from countries throughout the EU. Her evaluation is focussed on European education and culture programmes, as well as reflection on reforms. The work of this international team of experts is carried out in the Brussels base for the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA).

International Career

Dr Sanz directs the Jean Monnet Cathedra at CEU Cardenal Herrera and participates in European projects such as ATLAS, which is dedicated to analysing the EU´s role in promoting human rights  and international humanitarian law during and after every armed conflict. Within this research team, CEU Cardenal Herrera collaborates with the University of Valencia and Jaume I de Castellón University. Together, they have developed a code of conduct for soldiers in a conflict zone and a good practice guide for the senior managers of foreign policy and national security at the EU.

Dr Susana Sanz is also one of twenty-five members of the Board of Directors of the International Institute of Human Rights (IIDH), established in 1969 by the Nobel Peace Prize winner René Cassin in Strasbourg. It is considered the world´s nongovernmental point of reference in the research and promotion of human rights.
