Renowned international architecture studios in Lisbon, Amsterdam, Munich and Porto accepted the first groups of CEU-UCH graduates for six months as part of the programme
CEU-UCH´s Technical School of Engineering has created a European Internship Scholarship for Architecture and Design which, through the Leonardo da Vinci Programme, has allowed groups of recent graduates to join some of the most renowned architecture studios in Europe for a period of six months. CEU-UCH was inspired to create these internships by the importance of internationalisation in the job market and by the opportunity for valuable first-hand work experience for its students.
In this first year of the programme, CEU-UCH has been working with the Aires Mateus Arquitectos studio in Lisbon, the Cruz y Ortiz Arquitectos studios in Seville and Amsterdam, the Müller Sigrist Architeckten studio in Munich and the João Álvaro Rocha studio in Porto. João Álvaro Rocha is well known by the CEU-UCH students, having been a Masters professor in Architectural Prefabrication; the University even has an exhibition dedicated solely to his work.
The First Group of Participants
Scholarships are awarded to the best candidates by judging their academic records, language skills, motivation and their work portfolios which are presented to the studios. The CEU-UCH students thereby assume the role of university representatives as they carry out the internships, gaining a new perspective of working in a real international environment. The first students to be selected were Carmen García Monrabal, David Carceller, David Ruiz and Maribel Villar.
By means of this European scholarship programme, CEU-UCH reinforces its commitment to offer its students a different kind of personal support, in its search for excellence in training and preparing its graduates for a world of work without restrictions. The pilot of the programme has resulted in great success which the university wishes to continue, extend to new destinations and to a greater number of participants.
