La amiodarona es un f\u00e1rmaco antiarritmico de clase III utilizado en el tratamiento de la fibrilaci\u00f3n auricular.<\/p>\n<p>La historia del descubrimiento de la amiodarona, como muchos otros f\u00e1rmacos, empieza con la investigaci\u00f3n de otras mol\u00e9culas y finalmente tras una serie de modificaciones se consigue sintetizar la mol\u00e9cula adecuada. En este caso la l\u00ednea de investigaci\u00f3n empez\u00f3 con la benzarona y continu\u00f3 con la\u00a0 benziodarona en el a\u00f1o 1962; al cabo de un tiempo fue desplazada la benziodarona por la benzbromarona, en la que se sustitu\u00edan los dos \u00e1tomos de yodo por bromo. Finalmente con el objetivo de enmascarar el grupo fen\u00f3lico que era el causante de la ictericia, se sintetiz\u00f3 la amiodarona.<\/p>\n<p>Su mecanismo de acci\u00f3n se relaciona con la tiroxina, act\u00faa aumentando la refractariedad y deprimiendo el automatismo del n\u00f3dulo sinusal y lentificando la conducci\u00f3n. En cuanto a sus reacciones adversas las diferenciamos seg\u00fan la v\u00eda de administraci\u00f3n.
