Lo mismo que este Pierre\u00a0Jean Baptiste al que concedemos el ep\u00f3nimo, pudiera corresponder el m\u00e9rito a su hijo Jean Baptiste Louis o a su\u00a0biznieto August Fran\u00e7ois.<\/p>\n<p>En cualquier caso, Pierre Chomel fue un m\u00e9dico y bot\u00e1nico\u00a0franc\u00e9s que secund\u00f3 a Tournefort en sus investigaciones\u00a0bot\u00e1nicas, y fue tambi\u00e9n m\u00e9dico de Luis XIV. Fund\u00f3 un\u00a0jard\u00edn bot\u00e1nico en la parisina calle de Arbalete, que posteriormente pasar\u00eda a la Escuela de Farmacia de Par\u00eds.<\/p>\n<p>En 1720 ingres\u00f3 en la Academia de Ciencias y ocup\u00f3 el\u00a0decanato de la Facultad de Medicina, dejando escrito la\u00a0obra \u201cAbr\u00e9g\u00e9 de l\u2019histoire des plantes usuelles, dans lequelon \u00e0 donn\u00e9 leurs noms diff\u00e9rents, tant fran\u00e7ais que latins et\u00a0la mani\u00e8re de s\u2019en servir\u201d (Par\u00eds, 1712), obra que estuvo en\u00a0boga durante mucho tiempo, y de la cual J.J. Duboisson\u00a0hizo un resumen con el t\u00edtulo de \u201cPlantes usuelles\u201d (Par\u00eds,\u00a01809), va ilustrada con 102 l\u00e1minas.<\/p>\n<p><strong>B\u00e1lsamo tranquilo de Chomel<\/strong><br \/>\nRemedio secreto que seg\u00fan A. Jurado ten\u00eda la siguiente\u00a0composici\u00f3n y uso:\u00a0\u201cHojas verdes de bele\u00f1o, de cinoglosa y de tabaco, a partes\u00a0iguales diez y siete onzas. Se hierven en seis cuartillos de\u00a0vino y se exprime fuertemente. Se a\u00f1ade igual cantidad de\u00a0buen aceite de olivas, enseguida se hierve todo a un calor\u00a0suave hasta que se reduzca a la mitad, se vierte luego suavemente este aceite en un barre\u00f1o y se embotella despu\u00e9s\u00a0del enfriamiento.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1468\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.uchceu.es\/eponimos-cientificos\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2011\/10\/FOTO165.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"198\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Indicaciones: Esquinancias acompa\u00f1adas de dolores vivos,\u00a0neuralgias y reumatismos cr\u00f3nicos, bien friccionado en el\u00a0cuello.\u00a0Dosis: Cantidad suficiente para untar las barbas de una\u00a0pluma con que se tocan las am\u00edgdalas. De una a dos dracmas y a\u00fan m\u00e1s, para fricciones.<\/p>\n<p>Aunque entra el vino en la composici\u00f3n de esta f\u00f3rmula, el\u00a0medicamento que resulta le parece a Cadet preferible al\u00a0B\u00e1lsamo tranquilo normal, porque \u00e9ste, compuesto de m\u00e1s\u00a0plantas arom\u00e1ticas que narc\u00f3ticas, goza indudablemente de\u00a0propiedades opuestas; pero la pr\u00e1ctica ha sancionado los\u00a0buenos efectos del b\u00e1lsamo tranquilo, cuya f\u00f3rmula hemos\u00a0tomado de Souberain, y que es la misma con liger\u00edsima\u00a0modificaci\u00f3n que la de la Farmacopea Espa\u00f1ola\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bibliograf\u00eda<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">JURADO, A.
