Clean Walker: walks to clean our streets

Since mid-September, the Clean Walker movement has brought together hundreds of participants in France. The Clean Walkers gather to collect the garbage on the sidewalks of their cities.

Started by comedian and YouTuber Benjamin Carboni, the Clean Walker movement has been bringing together dozens of people since September in more than 22 cities across France.

The movement started with a simple principle: a collective walk to clean the city. Armed with garbage bags, participants come together to collect as much trash as they can.

“This is the first step in raising awareness and assuming responsibility.”

“I do not think that these types of movements can change the world, but they can change public opinion gradually,” said Benjamin Carboni.

That’s why more than 35 students from the University took part in this initiative by doing their own Clean Walk around the campus in Alfara del Patriarca. They gathered on a Saturday morning in the Plaza del Ágora and finished at the Veterinary Hospital. In two hours, they filled up three garbage containers.

Thanks must go to Jessica Violette Barraud and Pierre Barré, two French Veterinary Medicine and Physiotherapy students who convinced their fellow students to take action and participate in this citizens’ initiative.

We have to be mindful that, although the effects of climate change are very damaging, there is still time to reverse these effects if act now.

This is a great way to meet new people and help the environment. So what are you waiting for? Become a Clean Walker today.
