Its rounded profile reminds of <strong>Gaudi&#8217;s architecture<\/strong> and even competes with the\u00a0<em>Sagrada Familia<\/em> for first place in the run for <strong>icon of the city<\/strong>. In addition, a few meters away there are other interesting buildings such as the <strong>Design Museum of Barcelona<\/strong> or the headquarters of companies like Yahoo or eBay. All of them have turned the area into a real hub for modern architecture.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Bodegas Ysios (Rioja Alavesa)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>It is probably one of the Spanish wineries with the most impressive architecture. Moreover, this iconic building was designed by <strong>Santiago Calatrava<\/strong>. A trend that has filled our territory with seamless, out-of-the-box pieces of architecture.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Terminal 4 at Madrid-Barajas Adolfo Su\u00e1rez Airport (Madrid)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Gateway for more than 50 million passengers every year, Madrid airport experienced a huge increase in its operating capacity with the opening of its Terminal 4.<\/p>\n<p>This massive construction signed by the architects <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.uchceu.es\/arquitectura\/10-construcciones-estudiar-arquitectura-espana\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Richard Rogers<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lamela.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Antonio Lamela<\/strong><\/a> consists of a main building and a satellite linked by an automatic shuttle. This unusual design turns such an impersonal space like an airport into a cozy and bright place.<\/p>\n<p>In 2006 the T4 of Barajas received the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.architecture.com\/awards-and-competitions-landing-page\/awards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>RIBA European Award<\/strong><\/a>. Moreover, its architect Richard Rogers got the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pritzkerprize.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Pritzker Award<\/strong><\/a> in 2007.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>The Contemporary Art Museum of Castilla y Le\u00f3n (Le\u00f3n)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>What most attracts the attention of visitors to this museum is for sure its facade, composed of more than <strong>3000 stained glass windows<\/strong> of different colors. A facade inspired by one of the most famous windows of the cathedral of Leon. However, this museum designed by <strong>Luis M. Mansilla<\/strong> and<a href=\"http:\/\/www.emiliotunon.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong> Emilio Tu\u00f1\u00f3n<\/strong><\/a> also stands out for its peculiar plant built with white concrete. This succession of futuristic white buildings designed by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/calatrava.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Santiago Calatrava<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/F%C3%A9lix_Candela\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>F\u00e9lix Candela<\/strong><\/a> dots the final part of the Turia River. Nowadays, framed by sheets of water and gardens, the <strong>City of Arts and Sciences<\/strong> is an authentic cultural hub for sporting events, concerts and all kinds of cultural activities. Gehry<\/strong> won the competition for the design of the new satellite headquarters of the Guggenheim Foundation to other great architects such as <strong>Arata Isozaki<\/strong> and <strong>Coop Himmelblau<\/strong>. Moreover, along with him other architects such as Foster or Calatrava have placed it in the spotlight of the most innovative architecture.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Bridge Pavilion (Zaragoza)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>One of the legacies of the 2008 International Exhibition and one of the few buildings signed by Zaha Hadid in Spain. This construction meets two important requirements. To begin with, it is a <strong>new bridge<\/strong> over the river Ebro. In addition, it creates a <strong>public space<\/strong> where exhibitions can be hosted. First of them is that it is the masterpiece of architect <strong>Antoni Gaud\u00ed<\/strong>. Secondly, for being one of the most important works of <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.uchceu.es\/arquitectura\/en\/exploring-barcelona-architecture-students-head-out\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Catalan modernism<\/strong><\/a>. Apart from having a very particular geometry and structure, it is really interesting to follow up the progress of the works in real time through its <a href=\"https:\/\/sagradafamilia.org\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>web<\/strong><\/a>, blog and social networks.<\/p>\n<p>The<em> Sagrada Familia<\/em>, as well as several other modernist buildings in Barcelona, \u200b\u200bis included in the list of <strong>UNESCO<\/strong> World Heritage.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Extension of the Reina Sof\u00eda Museum (Madrid)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In the early 2000s <strong>Jean Nouvel<\/strong> got a difficult task: he was entrusted with the expansion of the <strong>Reina Sof\u00eda National Museum for Modern Art<\/strong>. Elements such as the new exhibition space, a service area and two auditoriums dressed in a striking red cover have helped turn the Madrid museum into a cultural reference in Europe.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Metrosol Parasol (Sevilla)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>It is always difficult to build something new in the very traditional city of\u00a0\u00a0Sevilla. Get ready for controversial discussions especially if the building is projected in the historical centre of the city. However, the project of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jmayerh.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>J\u00fcrgen Mayer H. Architects<\/strong><\/a> has managed to overcome the controversy to become a symbol of the new Seville.
